Diserio, Eugene James “Gene,” 88 of Wellsburg, WV passed away peacefully at home August 6, 2012 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Wellsburg, WV on July 22, 1924 the son of the late Felix and Modesta Spagnardi Diserio. He was one of eleven children.

Gene was also preceded in death by his eldest son, Eugene Diserio, Jr.; sisters, Frances Diserio, Mary Lupinetti, Elizabeth Olzeski, and Patty Winski; and brothers: Joseph Diserio and Paul Diserio

He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 246 for 59 years. He was a lifelong member of St. John Catholic Church

Gene’s greatest pride came from being a great husband, father, pap, and great-grandpap.

He is survived by his loving wife, of 64 years, Maxine Buchanan Diserio; daughter Diane (Chuck) Bowers of Wellsburg; sons: Michael (Cindy) Diserio of Wintersville, Phillip (Sandra) Diserio of Follansbee, daughter-in-law; Mickie Diserio of Follansbee, sisters; Dora McDermott and Virginia Diserio of Wellsburg, brothers; Alfred Diserio and William Diserio of Wellsburg, Nine grandchildren and Ten great-grandchildren, and many devoted nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 8, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Reasner Funeral Home 1515 Charles St. Wellsburg, WV. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Wellsburg, WV with Rev. Dan Pisano as celebrant. Interment will follow at Franklin Cemetery, Wellsburg, WV with full military rites by the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad. The family would like to thank Valley Hospice for the care and attention given to Gene and his family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Valley Hospice, 10686 State Route 150, Rayland, Ohio 43943
